What is an Expert Witness?
An expert witness is a witness, who by virtue of education, training, skill or experience, has knowledge in a particular subject (e.g. medicine, accounting, aerospace, insurance, real estate, etc.) beyond that of the average person. Expert witnesses provide an official legally relied-upon (or expert) opinion regarding evidence or fact issues. The expert witness may also provide expert evidence within their scope of expertise.
